Mike has extensive experience as an entrepreneur, business consultant and university professor. He is the cofounder and chairman of My New Enterprise. His is also the founder and former CEO of Golden Swirl Management Company and of Northern Lights. Both companies were sold to CoolBrands International, a world leader in the frozen dessert industry. Mike has consulted with numerous corporations in the areas of business strategy and organization effectiveness. His clients have included Associated Food Stores, The Boeing Company, Department of Workforce Services, Esso of Inter-America, and USANA Health Sciences. Mike is currently the Executive Director of the Clark Center for Entrepreneurship at Utah State University. He has published numerous articles in magazines and two books on entrepreneurship: Glorious Accidents and The Business of Heart. He has appeared on Great Day America, First Business from Washington, Voice of America, Good Morning Chicago and Associated Press Radio. Mike received a Ph.D. from Purdue University, and BS and MS degrees from the University of Utah.
Shawn is a cofounder of My New Enterprise. Shawn has extensive experience as a successful entrepreneur and business consultant. In addition to My New Enterprise, he has built two companies and sold them to top leaders in the Transportation and Logistics Industry. Shawn has directed business plan competitions and advised countless entrepreneurs on launching and growing successful ventures. He has held faculty positions at Utah State University in the areas of New Venture Development and New Venture Management. Shawn has consulted with numerous small businesses to create strategic execution plans for business expansion and growth. He has met with and interviewed highly successful entrepreneurs all across America and has a unique perspective on the attributes of successful business builders. Shawn has helped create performance-training systems for corporations, small businesses, and direct sales companies. He is deeply passionate about entrepreneurship and helping others build and grow thriving companies. Shawn received a BS in Accounting and an MBA from Westminster College.
Jay is the cofounder and Chief Creative Officer for My New Enterprise. He has extensive experience producing and editing short films and documentaries. He has filmed hundreds of successful entrepreneurs and created documentaries that tell their stories. He has filmed business builders and individuals across America and in Brazil, Italy, Ghana, Philippines, Peru and Guatemala. He has produced video training programs and curriculum for universities, corporations, non-profits, and government agencies. He is also the creator and host of The Main Street Entrepreneur Podcast which was created in partnership with Entrepreneur Magazine and Wells Fargo. Jay also has broad experience with his own entrepreneurial ventures. He is a founding member of two national touring bands. He has planned, promoted and managed hundreds of concerts and events through the United States. Jay received a degree in organizational communication from the University of Utah.
Andy made his debut in the world of entrepreneurship as a small business owner when he turned a passion into an opportunity to earn income. As an avid whitewater kayaker himself, Andy saw a need and high interest for instruction and in 2009, Rapid Progression Kayak School was born. Over the years he has had many unique opportunities broadening his experience in business. These opportunities range from managing and creating a YouTube sensation working with a blind pianist, to founding a social entrepreneurship venture in the highlands of Guatemala. Andy can also be found behind a camera creating content to help spread the message of entrepreneurship, spending time with his wife and two boys, traveling, eating out, and of course kayaking.
Mary has more than 20 years professional experience starting, building and operating companies in the food service, health and fitness, and real estate industries. She has designed, launched and marketed many new products. She has hired and trained employees and managed the growth of successful companies. She is also the founder of Lasting Link, a nonprofit organization which helps meet the needs of the “Top Generation.” Mary has a degree in Community Health from Purdue University and is a certified personal trainer. In her spare time she swims, bikes and runs. She is a top contender in her age-group in marathons and triathlons. Mary has conducted all the research on small-town entrepreneurs for the “My New Enterprise Dream Tour.”
Jeremy is a freelance programmer who specializes in data-driven applications, both for the web and the desktop platforms. He is currently the Chief Information Officer for Dorm Media, LLC, which is a company that helps students build digital portfolios by matching these talented students with current projects sponsored by its clients. Jeremy is currently pursuing a degree in computer science from Utah State University. Contrasting the common stereotypical programmer, Jeremy loves spending time outdoors hiking, biking, and camping, and looks forward to every opportunity to step away from the computer.
Natalee has extensive experience leading teams of young professionals, managing and executing events, creating effective marketing and promotional campaigns and organizing clear and effective policies that keeps business running smoothly. She believes in innovation, commitment to excellence and self-improvement, positive leadership and that by helping others become successful, you too achieve success.
